Trujillo & Around - Part. 2

There's nothing much to see in the city of Trujillo, but apart from its criminality, it is also known for Chan Chan and la Huaca de la Luna, remainings that are still in excavation from the Moche and Chinmu civilisations.

I was extremely lucky to have been introduced to Zelida, a young peruvian guide that took me around during her days off (and we took her out at night too !).

For those who know me, you know that I've never been really passionate for archeology and that kind of stuff...but it is probably because I don't know enough myself. When someone (and especially her !) takes you around and explains all the history, it is just..... wait for it......wait for iiiiit..... awesome !

(ndlr : If you need a cheap, nice, young, smiling and great guide in peru (or just for some parts), contact her !
zeliguide (at) hotmail.com - et pour les français, elle parle parfaitement le français! )

We first started with la Huaca de la luna, from the moches civilisation, still in excavation and with a huge undergoing conservation (and NOT restauration!) work.

Amazing mineral paintings have been found, partly thanks to the Moche's way of building : inside out, covering up the old temple to build the new on top.

The next day, Christa came with us, and we're out to Chan Chan, the greatest mud-based city. In the following picture you will start to realize how tall I feel in this country !

Fun workers challeging the sun and heat to help archeologists go further in the excavation works.

After Chan Chan, you will agree that it is high time for a bit of playa! On our way to Huanchaco, famously known for its Caballitos de Totora, still use by fishermen who preserve traditional fishing methods.

And a nice sunset watching surfers on the beach (nah, I'm not going to pretend this is me ;-)

But the day does not end here ! It's Ladies night in AMA, a show-off club in Trujillo. Open bar for girls till midnight (except that it was almost pure orange juice ;-) !

Hey, I wasn't planning on that so I ha left my jeans in Lima and had nothing but shorts and a sports'jogging with me... Thanks to Sofia, one of the volunteers there I was !

It was Ladies night so the guys that came with us are not even in the picture ;-)
